Love is in the air

Valentine’s Day dinner at the Up Hotel’s restaurant, Posner Bistro

The origins of Valentine’s Day date back to ancient Rome. According to legend, Saint Valentine secretly married couples in love when the emperor forbade it. Claudius II banned marriage because he believed that unmarried men made better soldiers: they were not tied down by family and were more courageous in battle. Saint Valentine was executed for his actions and later became the patron saint of lovers.

In Hungary, customs similar to those in most countries have become widespread, with couples surprising each other with romantic dinners, gifts, and activities. At the Up Hotel Budapest, we do our best to make sure that the days spent here by couples are perfect.

Those who book their rooms for February directly on our website will receive a special offer, which includes a three-course dinner, rose petals and champagne, as well as the option of late check-out.

On February 14, our restaurant, Posner Bistro, is hosting a romantic event for couples who would like to enjoy the bistro’s special Valentine’s Day menu accompanied by traditional South American guitar music. The program will be held at two different times, at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. You can read more about it here.
