Minimising energy and water consumption.
At Up Hotel Budapest, we are proud to share that our building was constructed using the latest technology in heating, cooling, and insulation systems. Our windows are equipped with thermal-protective films to enhance energy efficiency. We are committed to maintaining the building’s sustainability through continuous upkeep and improvements, ensuring we minimize our environmental impact while providing comfort for our guests.
Turn off air conditioning when windows are opened – The air conditioning in all rooms in our hotel automatically turns off when the window is opened or left open. The room temperature is set to the optimum 22 Celsius degrees (71.6 °F) for the arrival of guests.
We use water saving taps and shower heads in all guest rooms.

As part of our commitment to reducing plastic waste, we offer four complimentary glass bottles of water in each guest room. We would also like to assure you that the tap water is entirely safe for drinking, as all taps throughout the hotel are equipped with advanced filtration systems. To further support our sustainability efforts, we kindly request that you use the in-room bin for general waste only. For recyclable materials such as plastic and paper, dedicated recycling bins are conveniently located on each floor near to the elevators, at the reception and in the garage. We also collect used batteries at the reception.

Each room is equipped with an in-room tablet, providing guests with all the essential information about the hotel and the city. This eliminates the need for printed brochures or flyers, as all promotions, offers, and the restaurant’s menu are accessible digitally.
Additionally, each room features a digital control panel, allowing guests to set ‘Do Not Disturb’ or ‘Housekeeping Needed’ notifications, eliminating the need for paper door hangers.

These cleaning solutions effectively sanitize and disinfect the facility, ensuring thorough cleanliness without the use of harmful chemicals that could pose a risk to the environment.

We installed wall-mounted shower gel holders and soap dispensers for washbasins in all rooms, which are refilled daily by the cleaning staff. We do not offer cosmetics in small plastic containers, disposable slippers in the guests’ rooms. However, the reception is at guests’ disposal, if they forget to bring any cosmetics products.
Our guests have access to the JustIn mobile app, which can be downloaded to their smart devices and activated by our reception staff. Guests can then open their room door by holding their mobile phone to the lock. With this solution, we aim to reduce the use of plastic key cards.

At Up Hotel Budapest, we understand that our guests are equally committed to protecting the planet. Therefore we offer several eco-friendly options to support sustainable practices during their stay. Guests have the option to modify their room cleaning schedule. If they prefer not to have their sheets changed (we change bedsheets after 3 nights stay automatically) or do not require daily cleaning, they can simply inform the reception. In such cases, housekeeping will only perform a quick security check in the room. Additionally, guests can choose to reuse their towels by hanging them on the towel rack in the bathroom. Towels placed on the floor indicate they need replacing. This initiative helps us reduce the amount of laundry and contributing to our environmental commitment.

When serving breakfast, we give preference to products from local producers and are happy to offer our guests homemade jams. This solution avoids the use of small jams and marmalades by serving jam made in our kitchen in refillable glass jars.
Sustainability is not only available for individual hotel guests, but we are also happy to offer sustainable coffee break options for events. If our guests choose this option, we offer homemade lemonade and flavoured water served in a container with a refillable tap instead of bottled water.
